The evening came to an end with directional designs by Wendell Rodricksas accustomed. His simple, chic and light collection created out of purely cotton and shear cotton wooed the audience. Knitted cottons in pastels, beige, brown, grey and purple in various combinations were the palette of the season. Leading to a modern chic direction, the designer unveiled the geometric cuts converting into drapes inspired from sarees, and wrap arounds had truly international appeal. Sheath dresses, cowl neck poncho dress and long tunics with side cuts were few predominant silhouettes by Rod ricks this time.

Zardozi, kantha, brocade work, mokaish work, precious stones and diamonds embedded in net, georgette, shear cotton and silk were used to achieve the royal Indian look. The surprise element of the show interprets the Indian aesthetic but this time in coats, trench and bomber jackets, all trimmed with leather and worn with tights and boots. You would be surprised to know designer Ritu Kumar has printed motifs from a few of her paintings on the silk that was used to construct these coats. The stream also consisted of peshwaz painstakingly printed in the hand block areas of sanganer, gararas and khara dupattas from the home of Nizams.

On the similar track, designer Rocky Scarried forward the soiree with his contemporary Indian collection. The range started from pastels, baby pinks, red, emerald green, orange, citrus yellow and beige. In synch with true Olive style, the evening offered the best of fine food and jazz. The elite socialite and fashion connoisseur was in an eclectic mood and came to join the re-launch party, as AD Singh and wife Sabina dressed in elegant lounge dress extended a warm welcome to the guests. AD Singh of Olive enjoying his champagne expressed, “Over the years, Olive has blossomed into much more than a restaurant; it has now become a part of life, a melting pot where life imitates art, and often, the other way around. It’s great to be back with Olive at Mehrauli after six years, from where we started our love affair with Delhi in 2003″.

Natasha Nanda, Parvin Dabas, Sanjeev and Shelly Batra, Bina Ramani with husband George and daughter Malini Ramani, AD’s twin brother Arjun were the early birds to stroll in. As the capital’s glitterati continued to pour in, they stopped to fix their eyes on the picture collage on the walkway which made them recall the old days memories shared at Olive. Chetan Seth with daughters Ameeta and Ayesha was seen busy in posing for the shutterbugs. Among the designer fraternity, the ones who joined the bash were Muzaffar and Meera Ali with son Murad, Shantanu and Nikhil Mehra with wives Reema and Vidushi, Ashish and Misha Soni, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Gaurav Gupta, Gauri Karan, Nida Mahmood with friend Raul Chandra, Rohit Gandhi, Bobby Grover and Vijay Arora amongst others.

Bubbly Thenny, Sushma Puri, artist Subodh Gupta, Sanjay and Sheena Sharma, Fleur Xavier, Amrit Kiran Singh, Vivek and Monica Burman, Caroline Young, Sohrab Sitaram of Tabula Rasa, Parmeet and Simran Sawhney, Jaideep and Shonali Mathur, were seen having a great time letting their hair down. As the clock struck midnight, Priya Sachdev strode in, Yanchi Vadera, DJ Rummy, DJ Aaron James of ai, came and joined the party. Chef Saby made sure the kitchen fires were burning and hot pizzas, great Med food and sinful desserts kept the party spirit high – to the clinking sound of wine glasses, toasts of champagne, and whisky moments.
